Gestamp Solar opens its new plant in Fukuroda, Japan

Last September 18th, took place the opening of the new photovoltaic solar plant of Gestamp Solar in Fukuroda, Japan. This is the first project of the company in Japan. The facility has a nominal power of 26 MW, more than 126,000 Yingli modules YL250p-35b multicrystalline and 26 conversion centres composed by 1 ABB 1000 Kw inversor (one per centre) plus a transformer ABB 1100kVA with ABB cells. It is estimated an annual production of more than 37,000 MWh/year reducing emissions in 24,000 tons of CO2/year. Government representatives from Ibaraki’s prefecture assisted to the opening ceremony, as well as members from the Spanish Embassy in Japan together with several companies that cooperated in the execution of the project. Emotional Driving project wins a Stevie Gold in the International Business Awards 2015

  International Business Awards have awarded the Emotional Driving Project, by Gonvarri Steel Services, as the best Internal Communications project in 2015. Emotional Driving was created from the safety road concept by Gonvarri, developed by and for its employees, in order to motivate them to drive safely, combining the emotional and rational level. Emotional Driving has been developed from the Safety Road Sessions, collaborative challenges and from an online learning session, which had an excellent employee involvement from the first day, held at the Madrid’s plant in December, 2014. Afterwards there has also been held four editions in Asturias, Navarra, Barcelona and Galicia. In total, more than 1,500 people have already joined the project. Gonvarri Steel Services Península Ibérica (GSS Spain and Portugal), leader in the Spanish and Portuguese sector of steel service centers has launched its first Sustainability Report (for the 2013 financial year). The information in this report complies with the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative for its A+ application level and it has been externally reviewed by an independent auditing firm. GSS Spain and Portugal contributes to the creation of wealth in local communities. During 2013, GSS has generated a distributed economic value of 1,270 million euros and the creation of local employment, among others. In relation to employment in GSS Spain and Portugal, the great stability of its staff (96% of the 1,188 workers have a permanent contract) and the good results in health and safety matters at its facilities must be highlighted. Since 2006, the company has reduced the number of accidents with medical leave by 83.3% and by 82% for absenteeism due to accidents at work. The company has eleven steel service centers located in Spain and Portugal and four business lines with steel products. GSS supplies to different sectors such as the automotive, the industry, the road safety and the solar structure sectors. Its production capacity is 4.2 million tons of steel per year.
